As the clock on the wall struck twelve, Nancy Gonzalez firmly replied, "Yes, I'm sure." Her husband Cyrus Gordon's mistress had won the gamble – on their first wedding anniversary, Cyrus had spent it with his lover instead of with her. Nancy was done with him.
Cyrus believed Nancy would never leave him, no matter how outrageous his actions were. He indulged in his affair, turning a blind eye to his lover’s provocations towards Nancy, until the day she disappeared. Panicked, frightened, and desperate, Cyrus finally found Nancy, only to see her embraced by a man who had eyes only for her.
Cyrus knelt before Nancy, his face a picture of abjection: "Nancy, I realize my mistake. Let's go back to how things were."
With her arm linked through her new companion's, Nancy laughed lightly and said, "It's too late, Mr. Gordon. You're already out of the game."
